The Rise of Java and Fall of C: Top Programming Languages in September 2024
According to the latest TIOBE Programming Community index, Java has climbed to the third position, displacing C which has never dropped that low since its debut in the top three back in 2001. Paul Jansen, the CEO of TIOBE Software, pointed out that C saw a decrease from 9.17% to 8.89% in September.
Another notable movement in the top 10 is Go, which has risen back to eighth place from 10th.

- Fortran: Historically significant language still used in scientific research and engineering.
Other Movements in the Top 10 List in September
Delphi/Object Pascal rose from 15th to 11th place, PHP fell from 8th to 13th, and Swift fell from 16th to 20th in the latest rankings.
