Zoom’s Latest Enterprise Offerings Cater to Compliance and Security Needs
Zoom is ramping up its focus on enterprise and regulated industries with a slew of new updates to its business subscriptions. The platform recently announced several add-on products tailored to the needs of large organizations, further enhancing its robust portfolio of offerings. These updates aim to assist companies in meeting their compliance, security, privacy, survivability, and manageability requirements.
Zoom announces four advanced enterprise offerings
The latest add-ons available for Zoom Workplace and Zoom Business Services include:
- Zoom Compliance Manager Plus: An enhanced version of the existing Zoom Compliance Manager, offering risk detection, data loss protection, and advanced trends analysis. Targeted at industries such as finance, healthcare, and government agencies.
- Zoom Meeting Survivability: Provides safeguards against downtime during natural disasters or carrier-related issues by utilizing Zoom Node to shift meetings to local servers for on-premises hosting.
- Zoom Mesh: Originally exclusive to Zoom Webinars and Events, Zoom Mesh now extends its bandwidth optimization capabilities to Zoom Meetings for a seamless user experience.
- Zoom Customer Managed Key (CMK) Hybrid: Offers enhanced encryption key management and data protection through on-premises encryption and decryption. Scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2024.
“Our goal is to make communication and collaboration on Zoom foolproof, future-proof, and fail-proof,” stated Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer at Zoom, in a press release.
These features are available as paid add-ons to Zoom Workplace Enterprise licenses, aligning with the platform’s rebranding as Zoom Workplace and the introduction of various plan tiers.
How do Zoom’s features compare with competitors?
When comparing Zoom to its major competitors like Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, each platform offers unique features and capabilities. Google Meet boasts client-side encryption and compliance tools within Google Workspace, while Microsoft Teams supports end-to-end encryption and provides the 365 Customer Key for data encryption at the application layer.
The choice of the best compliance service for your organization depends on your industry’s specific requirements. However, Google Workspace and Microsoft Teams enjoy strong integration in many professional settings where they are widely adopted.
