YouTube has recently announced its upcoming expansion of auto-dubbing, allowing creators to activate audio translations of their content to reach a wider audience. This was revealed as part of YouTube’s “Made on YouTube” event, focusing on new AI expansions. The auto-dubbing feature will also be available in more markets and languages later this year.

According to YouTube, “In the coming months, we’ll be expanding our AI-powered dubbing tool, formerly known as ‘Aloud’, to hundreds of thousands of creators. Additionally, creators will now have the option to dub their videos in languages like French and Italian, in addition to the existing Spanish and Portuguese options. Videos will be automatically dubbed upon upload, with creators having the ability to opt out if they choose.”

The initial announcement of Aloud was made back in 2022 as part of a Google translation experiment. The system is quite complex, involving both text and automated audio translation, which explains the gradual expansion process.

This new feature opens up opportunities for creators to build global connections and appeal to local markets among diverse communities. Expanding audience reach through dubbing could help creators grow their presence on YouTube and tap into new audience segments.

YouTube plans to expand this offering over the coming months, promising more accessibility and engagement for creators worldwide.
