Exciting news for all Google Pixel Watch users! Google is launching a major update for the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 via an over the air (OTA) update today. This update not only brings Wear OS 5 to the devices but also introduces a new app and numerous bug fixes.

The patch notes provided give us a glimpse into the new features. Wear OS 5 includes a grid-based app launcher, making navigation easier for users. This layout is similar to what is found on many third-party smartwatches.

Health Services on Wear OS 5 now supports additional data types related to running, such as Ground Contact Time and Stride Length. The update also brings the Recorder app from the Pixel Watch 3, known for its AI-powered transcription feature.

Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 users can also expect improved Camera controls, similar to those on the Pixel Watch 3. The update will address various bug fixes, details of which will be provided on the Pixel Watch Security Bulletins page.

Google plans to roll out the update gradually over the next week, with availability depending on carriers and devices. Users will receive a notification when the update is ready for installation.

To download the update, simply navigate to the System Updates section in the Pixel Watch’s Settings menu. The device will check for available patches and install the software, prompting a restart once complete.
