Looking to expand its reach in science education, TikTok has opened up its STEM feed to all users in the U.S., U.K., and Ireland.

TikTok initially launched its STEM feed for users aged 18 and under in the U.S. in March last year, expanding to European audiences in April 2024. Now, the platform is taking it a step further by opening up the science-focused stream to all users in these regions.
According to TikTok, the STEM feed aims to inspire people to pursue STEM careers, facilitate collaboration among aspiring engineers, and help beginners learn to code, fostering co-learning, inspiration, and enrichment.
Since the launch of the STEM feed, TikTok has seen nearly 200 million video views of STEM-approved content, with almost a third of teens in the U.S. and U.K. visiting the STEM feed weekly. This success has generated more interest in science-related posts and creators on the platform.
Looking ahead, TikTok plans to introduce local language support for STEM feed content to reach an even broader audience. By emphasizing educational content, TikTok aims to address concerns about its value for users, particularly in the eyes of regulators and critics.
While TikTok has faced criticism for being a time sink that attracts young users with addictive algorithms, initiatives like the STEM feed demonstrate the platform’s commitment to spreading knowledge and critical thinking among its audience.
All users in the specified regions now have access to the STEM feed on TikTok, making it easier than ever to engage with science content on the platform.
