The Latest Trends in Kids’ App Usage
Kids these days are entering the digital world at younger ages than ever before, thanks to new technology that allows parents and children to connect, learn, and engage with the world through digital devices. But what apps are kids actually using, and how are they using them?
That’s the question that Qustodio aimed to answer with its latest survey report, which gathered insights from 180,000 U.S. families with children aged between 7-18. The report dives into the apps that are popular among kids and teens and explores the reasons behind their popularity.
The report, which you can download here, is divided by age ranges, focusing on kids to teens. Among the youngest group, aged 7 to 9, Roblox and YouTube emerged as the most popular apps, with significantly more usage compared to others.

However, there were some concerning mentions in the report, such as X and Reddit. According to Qustodio’s analysis, kids in this age group may be accessing these apps to find information on games, possibly through Google Search.
As kids move into the 10-12 age range, the popularity of Roblox and YouTube persists, but there is a noticeable shift in behavior as they become teens. Social apps like TikTok and Snapchat start gaining traction among this group.

The trend continues as older teens (16 to 18) show a significant usage shift towards social apps. This data provides valuable insights into how young users are engaging with different apps and what influences their behavior on each platform.
While there are some concerning trends, particularly among the youngest users, this information is crucial for brands looking to connect with these groups and understand where their focus lies.
