As technology advances, kids are starting to go online at younger ages, opening up new opportunities for parents to connect and engage with their children through digital devices. But what apps are kids actually using, and how are they using them?
Qustodio set out to answer these questions in their latest survey report, which gathered insights from 180,000 U.S. families with children aged between 7-18. The report delves into which apps are popular among kids and teens, shedding light on their usage patterns and preferences.
The 13-page report, available for download here, breaks down app usage by age groups, starting with kids aged 7 to 9. It reveals that Roblox and YouTube are the top apps in this age category, garnering much higher usage than others.

However, the report also highlights some concerning trends, such as kids accessing platforms like X and Reddit for gaming information, potentially exposing them to inappropriate content.
As kids grow older, app preferences shift – in the 10 to 12 age group, Roblox and YouTube maintain their popularity, but social apps like TikTok and Snapchat start to gain traction. This trend continues as teens (16 to 18) show a preference for social networking apps.

These insights provide valuable information for brands looking to connect with young audiences and understand their preferences. While there are some concerns, particularly among younger users, knowing where their attention lies can help businesses tailor their marketing strategies accordingly.
