Sateliot Launches Four New Satellites to Expand Global 5G NB-IoT Constellation

Sateliot, a pioneering space technology company, has recently launched four cutting-edge low-Earth orbit (LEO) nanosatellites to enhance its innovative 5G NB-IoT NTN constellation. The successful launch took place on 16th August at 19:18 BST, courtesy of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

These new satellites are strategically designed to amplify mobile telecom operators’ coverage worldwide, eliminating connectivity gaps and fostering IoT capabilities on a global scale. Sateliot’s ambitious vision includes deploying over 100 satellites by 2028, revolutionizing industries across diverse sectors irrespective of geographical constraints.

Jaume Sanpera, the CEO and co-founder of Sateliot, expressed his excitement about this significant milestone, stating, “This launch marks a new phase in our journey. It not only drives revenue generation but also positions Spain as a global IoT connectivity leader.”

Central to Sateliot’s approach is its proprietary ‘Store and Forward’ technology, which facilitates seamless global connectivity through its advanced orbital plane. The company’s satellites are at the forefront of implementing standard GSMA and 3GPP developments, paving the way for future innovations within the NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks) landscape.

The immediate focus of Sateliot’s groundbreaking technology is to connect over eight million devices from contracted companies. With its inclusive and versatile nature, the technology finds applications across various industries such as agriculture, livestock management, logistics, and critical infrastructure monitoring.

The launch event, hosted in Barcelona, gathered key industry stakeholders and received support from esteemed entities like the European Space Agency (ESA), GSMA, and the Spanish Government. Co-founders Sanpera and Marco Guadalupi (CTO) shared insights into Sateliot’s future endeavors during the event.

Looking ahead, Sateliot envisions deploying additional satellites by 2025 and is actively engaging in discussions to secure a Series B funding round amounting to €30 million. Since its inception in 2018, the company has raised €25 million and aims to achieve a revenue milestone of €1 billion by 2030.

By harnessing the power of 5G NB-IoT technology in space, Sateliot is addressing the long-standing challenge of delivering reliable and cost-effective IoT solutions in remote and underserved regions. As industries increasingly embrace IoT solutions for enhanced efficiency and data-driven decision-making, the demand for seamless global connectivity is anticipated to surge.
