Sateliot Launches Additional Satellites for 5G NB-IoT NTN Constellation
Sateliot has reached a significant milestone by successfully launching four additional satellites as part of its 5G NB-IoT NTN constellation. These satellites are specifically designed to extend the coverage of Mobile Telecom Operators to 100% of the planet. The deployment of these satellites took place on the SpaceX Transporter-11 mission, launching from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, USA on Friday, August 16, at 20:18 CET, aboard a Falcon 9 rocket.
A special event held in Barcelona brought together the Sateliot family and key stakeholders to witness the live launch. The event was supported by various organizations such as ESA, GSMA, and the Spanish Government. Led by Josep Calatayud from the “Control de Misión” YouTube channel, the event featured insightful interviews with shareholders, authorities, and employees. Co-founders Jaume Sanpera (CEO) and Marco Guadalupi (CTO) provided detailed explanations and forecasts for Sateliot’s future, which you can rewatch here.
Jaume Sanpera, CEO and co-founder of Sateliot, commented, “This launch propels us into a new phase of development, positioning Spain as a global leader in IoT connectivity and revenue generation.”
The mission badge for ‘Revolution’, inspired by Antoni Gaudí’s dragon, signifies the resilience of Sateliot’s technology and its global ambitions. The four flames in the emblem represent each newly launched satellite, with multicolored fragments hinting at a constellation of over 100 satellites by 2028.
This mission represents a revolution in the 5G NB-IoT NTN standard, offering the potential to transform industries worldwide and eliminate connectivity black spots.
Sateliot’s technology incorporates enhancements in satellite technology and is one of the first constellations to fully implement standard GSMA and 3GPP developments. The company aims to lead the NTN community in future innovations while offering global connectivity through its patented “Store and Forward” technology and new orbital plane. Sateliot is also working on a certification program for commercial terminals to facilitate market integration.
Looking forward, Sateliot is planning to deploy more satellites by 2025 and is actively seeking a Series B funding round of 30 million euros. Since its inception in 2018, the company has raised 25 million euros and aims to achieve revenues of 1 billion euros by 2030.
With its technology connecting over eight million devices from contracted companies, Sateliot’s accessible and inclusive approach targets a wide range of use cases across various industries such as agriculture, livestock, logistics, and critical infrastructures.
