QuEra Computing, a leader in neutral-atom quantum computing, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AIST – Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. This strategic collaboration, effective September 6, extends a prior deal from April 2024, through which QuEra will provide a cutting-edge 256 qubit digital quantum computer to be integrated with AIST’s ABCI-Q supercomputer in Japan. The MOU stipulates that QuEra will manage the cloud service for this quantum machine, enabling access for AIST, their associates, and global users.

Under this partnership, QuEra will establish a cloud-based platform to facilitate remote access to the quantum computer for researchers and external users. The platform will be seamlessly integrated with AIST’s HPC resources, fostering a hybrid computing environment that blends the capabilities of ABCI-Q and QuEra’s neutral-atom quantum computer. Furthermore, the collaboration will explore leveraging optical materials and components to enhance quantum hardware and streamline processes for enhanced supply chain resilience.

This enhanced alliance underscores the escalating demand for quantum technology across industrial sectors. By propelling hybrid quantum-HPC solutions and advancing next-gen hardware, QuEra and AIST aspire to fuel new technological advancements and broaden the quantum computing market.
