Metasurfaces, crafted using NIL, have the unique ability to control the polarization and emission direction of light from quantum dots. This breakthrough opens up a world of possibilities for applications in QLEDs, quantum computing, and beyond.
What sets this research apart is the seamless integration of quantum dots with titanium dioxide (TiO2) during the creation of the metasurface. This novel approach eliminates the need for separate fabrication processes, resulting in a metasurface with up to 25 times greater luminescence efficiency compared to traditional methods.
Professor Junsuk Rho envisions a future where luminescence-controlled metasurfaces pave the way for sharper displays and more precise biosensing capabilities.
