Netmore Group has joined forces with Cellnex UK to deploy LoRaWAN gateways on Cellnex UK’s street infrastructure, enhancing Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) coverage. After successfully installing gateways at 20 sites earlier this year, the partnership is expanding with installations at 200 additional sites to support Netmore’s Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) implementation for regional water utilities under the AMP8 regulatory framework.
This collaboration leverages Cellnex UK’s sustainable asset-sharing approach, which allows the co-location of operator equipment on numerous sites across the UK. The focus is on bolstering Netmore’s network expansion in the UK, following their selection by Yorkshire Water for a significant LoRaWAN water metering project involving 1.3 million water meters.
“Our partnership with Cellnex UK is crucial as we strive to reduce network delivery costs while delivering top-notch connectivity services to our customers. The innovative approach of repurposing street fixtures for network deployment significantly enhances our ability to integrate devices like smart water meters into our network quickly and efficiently. We look forward to extending this partnership regionally and beyond,” said Dominic Murphy, the director of international network delivery.
Paul Stonadge, the commercial director at Cellnex UK, added, “By utilizing our sustainable asset-sharing model, we not only support the deployment of Netmore’s cutting-edge technology but also ensure targeted wireless coverage and capacity for its customers. Our broad infrastructure portfolio enables us to deliver connectivity precisely where it’s needed, offering a cost-effective solution that enables Netmore to connect to a large number of water meters.”
