The Future of IoT Connectivity: Kigen and Monogoto Launch iSIM Evaluation Kit

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Kigen, a prominent provider of SIM, eSIM, and iSIM technologies, joined forces with Monogoto, an innovative connectivity-as-a-service cloud provider, to unveil the iSIM Evaluation Kit. This kit allows enterprises and developers to test the potential of integrating iSIM technology into their connected devices.

Traditionally, the physical SIM card has been a major hurdle in the supply management and lifecycle of development projects for cellular IoT-connected devices. Managing SIM stock, dealing with multiple SKUs, and the cost implications of physical SIM cards have posed challenges for customers. However, with the advent of iSIMs—integrated SIMs embedded directly into modems—the landscape of IoT device development is set to transform.

Unlike physical SIMs, iSIMs offer a range of benefits that revolutionize IoT device manufacturing. By eliminating the need for a physical SIM card, iSIMs simplify the supply chain, consume less power, and have the potential to reduce the total cost of ownership across various IoT use cases. This shift towards iSIM technology promises true out-of-the-box connectivity, enhanced security, and energy efficiency.

The release of the iSIM Evaluation Kit enables developers and enterprises to explore and test the capabilities of iSIM technology before deploying it on a larger scale. Maor Efrati, co-founder and CTO of Monogoto, emphasizes the significance of this advancement, stating, “The iSIM is a big step towards a real software-defined device, unlocking new efficiency and innovation.”

Vincent Korstanje, CEO at Kigen, highlights the growing interest in iSIM technology among manufacturers for its cost-saving and security features. He underlines how the iSIM Evaluation Kit from Monogoto simplifies product development with Kigen’s iSIM technology, offering global connectivity with minimal coding requirements.

Monogoto’s support for iSIM includes an Evaluation platform based on Murata’s 1SC module with Sony’s Altair ALT1250 inside. The iSIM Evaluation Kit will be showcased by Monogoto at Embedded World North America in Austin, Texas, in October.

With this collaboration and the launch of the iSIM Evaluation Kit, Kigen and Monogoto are poised to drive the future of IoT connectivity, empowering developers and enterprises to embrace the efficiency and innovation that iSIM technology brings to the table.
