Are you ready for a smartwatch that could potentially save your life? Google is taking health monitoring to the next level with the new Google Pixel Watch 3, set to launch next month in nine countries.
Exciting Announcement at Made by Google 2024
During the recent Made by Google event, Google unveiled an AI-powered Loss of Pulse Detection feature exclusively for the Pixel Watch 3. This innovative feature is designed to detect emergencies where a person’s heart suddenly stops beating, signaling a potentially life-threatening situation.
Utilizing data from the smartwatch’s Heart Rate sensor combined with AI and motion sensor data, this feature can accurately detect changes in pulse while minimizing false alarms. In the event of a pulse detection issue, the watch prompts a user to check in, and if there is no response, an audible alarm sounds with a countdown.
Should there still be no response, the watch initiates a call to emergency services with an automated message detailing the loss of pulse alert and sharing the user’s location.
Enhancing Safety and Well-being
Google emphasizes the importance of this feature for individuals who may find themselves alone in critical situations. Whether you’re a solo hiker or a driver in remote areas, the Loss of Pulse Detection feature aims to connect users to emergency care when needed.
Working closely with cardiologists and leveraging AI and clinical data, Google rigorously tested the feature by simulating pulse loss scenarios. The company’s commitment to health and safety is exemplified through this feature, which joins a suite of health-focused functionalities on the Pixel Watch 3.
Loss of Pulse Detection will be available in September across various European countries, with plans to expand availability pending regulatory approval. Users can opt into this life-saving feature here.
