KT Corporation, LG Electronics, and Vodafone Group Services Limited have joined forces with Sisvel’s Cellular IoT patent pool, marking a significant milestone in the realm of IoT innovation.
By adding these industry giants to the mix, the patent pool now offers access to more than 50% of all NB-IoT and LTE-M SEPs through a single licensing agreement. This streamlined process allows implementors to access 34 different patent portfolios in one efficient transaction, with rates starting at just US$0.08 per device.
The Sisvel Cellular IoT program brings together a diverse group of patent owners from various sectors within the telecoms and IoT industry. This collaboration includes mobile infrastructure vendors, product manufacturers, component makers, and network operators, all united in their goal to drive the growth of cellular IoT across multiple verticals.
“We are delighted to welcome LG Electronics, KT Corporation, and Vodafone to our esteemed list of members. Their participation significantly enhances the patent coverage available through our pool,” stated Sven Torringer, the IoT program manager at Sisvel Cellular. “Our primary objective from the outset has been to provide cellular IoT device makers with the certainty they need to expand their businesses, all while ensuring fair compensation for innovators. Alongside our recent agreement with Nordic Semiconductor, today’s announcement underscores the industry-wide support for our solution.”
