Intelsat is revolutionizing the satellite communications industry with its groundbreaking multi-orbit solutions set to be available for all relevant business units by the first half of 2025. This innovative satellite terminal strategy will bring advanced capabilities and improved economics to the forefront, setting a new standard in the industry.
According to David Wajsgras, the CEO of Intelsat, “Intelsat is making strategic investments in new technologies, including innovative terminal providers, to deliver a broad reliability profile to customers through multi-orbit solutions. Our future success hinges on the unmatched performance, resiliency, and commercial flexibility that only Intelsat can provide.”
With a network of geostationary satellites and partnerships with low Earth orbit providers, Intelsat is poised to deliver multi-orbit managed-service solutions across various verticals such as commercial aviation, government, and mobility applications.
Intelsat’s multi-orbit terminal strategy includes strategic investments in cutting-edge terminal providers like Paris-based Greenerwave. This alliance aims to develop an innovative electronically-steerable antenna that will enhance connectivity experiences for broadband, mobility, media, and government customers worldwide.
The new scalable terminal, developed in collaboration with Greenerwave, will be integrated into Intelsat’s Managed Service offerings, offering high-throughput, reliable connectivity without the need to manage a satellite network. This advanced terminal features flexible beamforming, real-time reconfiguration, and low-power consumption, with the ability to operate as either a half-duplex or full-duplex terminal, reducing panel size by up to 50%.
