Instagram’s New “Social Library” Feature: Enhancing Content Sharing
Have you ever struggled to find a specific post or Reel that you interacted with on Instagram? Well, Instagram is experimenting with a new feature called “Social Library” to solve this problem. This feature will store all the posts and Reels you’ve interacted with in one convenient location for easy access.

The new “Social Library” element, as shared by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, will list all the posts you’ve re-shared, Liked, or bookmarked in the app. This compilation will make it easier for you to find and revisit your favorite content.
Sharing content has become a common way for people to interact on Instagram. According to Instagram chief Adam Mosseri, people now post more to Stories and send more DMs than they do to their Feed.
Instead of using social media as a personal soapbox, the trend is shifting towards using it as a discovery engine. People are now connecting through popular memes and recommended content, leading to increased engagement on platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
This shift is driven by a desire to move away from mundane updates and staged highlight reels, as well as political division that discourages sharing personal opinions. As a result, sharing interesting and relevant content has become a dominant mode of interaction.
While Instagram has not confirmed if the “Social Library” feature will be rolled out, it aligns with the current trend of smaller group interactions and sharing relevant updates. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new feature!
