Empowering the Next Generation: DeepMind’s Commitment to STEM Education

We’re excited to announce our collaboration with six education charities and social enterprises in the United Kingdom (UK) to co-create a tailored education programme aimed at bridging the gaps in STEM education. Through funding, volunteering, and the development of new AI resources, we are dedicated to enhancing existing programmes and providing support to young people from all backgrounds.

Partnering with the Raspberry Pi Foundation

In partnership with the Raspberry Pi Foundation, we will be developing innovative AI-focused resources tailored for students aged 11-14. These resources, including lesson plans and teacher training, aim to deepen students’ understanding of AI and its role in shaping their future. Our team of volunteers from DeepMind will collaborate with Raspberry Pi to ensure the resources reflect the latest trends and insights in AI, making them available to all schools across the UK.

Expanding Existing Programmes

DeepMind will provide financial assistance and volunteer support to five other organizations, amplifying the reach of their initiatives and introducing new AI content. This expansion aims to benefit over 100,000 young individuals from diverse backgrounds through partnerships with state schools and underrepresented groups.

Commitment to Inclusive Education

At DeepMind, we believe in fostering an inclusive and diverse AI community, starting with equitable access to education. Alongside our university initiatives, such as the DeepMind Scholarship Programme and the DeepMind Academic Fellowship programme, we are thrilled to extend our impact to younger students through these partnerships. Our aim is to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers, particularly those who may not have considered these career paths before.

Early education inclusivity is a crucial step in addressing longstanding disparities in AI. We hope that our programme will motivate and empower students to pursue STEM fields, creating a more diverse and innovative future.
