Colorado Begins Building 70-Acre Quantum Hub, Aiming for Global Tech Center

Elevate Quantum and the Colorado School of Mines have broken ground on the Quantum Commons campus in Arvada, Colorado. This major initiative follows a significant $40.5 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce, along with additional funding from the Colorado state government. Their goal? To establish a quantum technology hub that spans 70 acres and fosters collaboration among startups, academic institutions, and private companies, all with the aim of accelerating the development and commercialization of quantum technology.

The Quantum Commons will feature cutting-edge clean-room labs, shared facilities, and office space, providing quantum startups with the resources needed to bring their technologies to market. The Colorado School of Mines is investing $20 million to upgrade existing infrastructure and develop specialized fabrication facilities to support advanced quantum research.

This ambitious project is projected to attract billions in private investments and create tens of thousands of jobs in the Denver-Boulder area. What sets this initiative apart is that many of these jobs will not require advanced degrees, making it an inclusive opportunity for a wide range of professionals. The ultimate aim is to position Colorado as a global leader in quantum technology, driving advancements in industries such as defense, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.
