When it comes to assessing quantum processor development roadmaps, Global Quantum Intelligence (GQI) is the go-to choice for investors, governments, and quantum hardware companies. GQI has developed unique frameworks for analyzing these roadmaps, ensuring a comprehensive and consistent approach. Here, we share some insights into these frameworks.
The first phase of our analysis involves a technical assessment. One of the key frameworks we rely on is the GQI Hardware Stack, which outlines all the essential elements required for an operational quantum computer. We also have a framework for rating the progress of each stage. The charts below depict the GQI Hardware Stack and the rating scale we use.
By combining these frameworks, we create a color-coded chart that offers a holistic view. This chart can represent individual hardware providers’ progress on their roadmaps or facilitate comparisons between providers. It’s a visual way to highlight the status of each element and the technical challenges that need addressing for success. An example chart is provided below.
As quantum processor technology advances, factors like Cost, Footprint, Power Demand, and Logical Cycle Time gain importance as selection criteria for end-users. These factors, known as Secondary Competitive Differentiators, are crucial in choosing the right quantum computer. To assess these factors comprehensively, we’ve developed a rating scale as shown below.
For a comprehensive analysis of these factors, we use a Radar chart that plots all the elements together. Each factor is represented on a separate axis, and a smaller total area indicates better performance. See the example chart below for visualization.
With extensive expertise in the quantum computing landscape, GQI offers unparalleled insight into the technical challenges and progress of quantum processor development. Our proven methodology provides clients with a clear understanding of where each quantum processor development stands.
