Transport for London (TfL) has fallen victim to a recent cyber-attack, leading to the breach of customer data. The attack has compromised sensitive information, including Oyster refund data that contains bank account numbers and sort codes for approximately 5000 customers.
In an update on September 12, TfL confirmed that personal details of some customers, such as names and contact information like email addresses and home addresses, were accessed by the attackers. As a precautionary measure, TfL is reaching out to affected customers and conducting an IT identity check for all staff.
Despite the attack causing temporary disruptions to services, TfL assures the public that the transportation network in London remains operational. The organization is actively investigating the incident in collaboration with the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
