AWS HealthScribe integrates speech recognition and generative AI tailored for healthcare documentation to accelerate clinical documentation processes and improve consultation experiences. Key features of AWS HealthScribe include:

  • Rich consultation transcripts with word-level timestamps
  • Identification of speaker roles (clinician or patient)
  • Segmentation of transcripts into relevant sections (subjective, objective, assessment, and plan)
  • Summarized clinical notes for key sections such as chief complaint and treatment plan

Furthermore, AWS HealthScribe offers AI-powered features to streamline clinical documentation while prioritizing security and privacy. The service does not retain audio or output text, ensuring users have full control over data storage with encryption in transit and at rest.

Amazon Q Business: Empowering Workplace Efficiency

Amazon Q Business introduces a generative AI-powered assistant tailored for business use cases, offering customization and integration with an organization’s data and systems. Amazon Q facilitates conversations, problem-solving, insights generation, and task completion through its advanced AI capabilities. To initiate AWS HealthScribe, start a transcription job with a source audio file to generate summary and transcription JSON files. These output files can then be connected to Amazon Q for further analysis and use.

Creating the AWS HealthScribe job involves:

  1. Accessing the AWS HealthScribe console and choosing Transcription jobs to create a job.
  2. Naming the job, selecting the S3 bucket for the audio file, and configuring the job settings.
  3. Creating a new IAM role for AWS HealthScribe to access input and output buckets.
  4. Inspecting the results post-job completion to access the generated transcript and summary files.

Connecting AWS HealthScribe Job to Amazon Q

To connect an AWS HealthScribe job to Amazon Q, create an Amazon Q Business application and set the data source as the output files generated in the HealthScribe workflow. This integration enables Amazon Q to index the files for user interaction and analysis.
